5%, 15%, 20% and 45% tint: what the percentage means

The percentage is a reference for visible light transmission, or VLT. A lower number indicates film that lets through less visible light.

Reading the scale

5% is the darkest reference in the simulator; 15% and 20% let more visible light through; 45% looks lighter. These values describe transmission, not a universal digital color. They do not represent heat rejection percentages.

A specification sheet can list a measured value that differs from the product’s commercial number. Confirm the brand and series to know which product you are comparing.

Why photos and vehicles look different

Original glass, the interior, reflections and lighting change the observed appearance. A photo taken in shade is not equivalent to one in sunlight. Screens with different settings will not show exactly the same result either.

Use the simulation to start a conversation

Explore the four car views to compare general appearance and choose a reference shade for your request. The images are AI-generated illustrations and the darkening is a visual approximation. It is not an optical test or a visibility guarantee.

Before installation, review the available option for each window. The windshield, side windows and rear glass should not be treated as one automatic decision.

Confirm applicable requirements

A shade appearing in the simulator does not mean it is appropriate or permitted on every window. Check the current requirements applicable to your vehicle and agree on the selection before installation. Ask for guidance in the form if you need it.
